Scorpionfish

The Cleveland Aquarium has quite a few Scorpaenidae but I’m not quite sure what species this one is despite browsing hundreds of photos of them on the internet. Scorpionfish can change colors and have algae growing on their back to blend into the surroundings as they lay-in-wait for a fish to wander by so they can suck it into their mouths. The animated Gif above was created from several frames of a second of movement that you may have to wait a few minutes to notice.
